Alhamdulillah that Allaah chose us out of His intense mercy by guiding us towards the path that leads to our final, everlasting, and ever-desired abode… Jannah!
To get motivated, I always remind myself of how Allah (SWT) may wish for us…
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “When Allah wishes good for someone, He bestows upon him the understanding of Deen” [Bukhari And Muslim]
We are here to set on a journey toward the Qur’an together with the hope that we make it to the end. Before we start the formal discussions, timetable etc., we need to know the main focus of our studies (the pre-Qur’an checklist). The following 4 steps shall describe that and if we’ll find ourselves getting off track, we’ll recall them again in shaa Allaah:
1) Intention:
Indeed no one would disagree that no good deed is reward worthy if the intention behind it is evil or based on riyaa (pretentiousness). The deeds are better termed as “coincidence” if they are done without any intention at all.
Similarly, a Muslim is a person who wisely and willingly submits himself to his Creator and thus his acts are for the sake of his Rabb alone.
The intention is something that your heart agrees with and a heart is that control room that drags your mechanic body.
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “People will be resurrected (and judged) according to their intentions.” [Ibn Majah]
2) Commitment:
One of the most important things to do when starting your journey with the Quran is to make a commitment to make the Quran a priority in your life. You can start small and gradually increase the amount of time you spend with the Quran.
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately and know that your deeds will not make you enter Paradise, and that the most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant even if it were little.” [Bukhari]
3) Support:
Thanks to my Rabb who guided me to deen (religion) and that too with supporters. Treading alone on this path (especially in the times when this deen has become “strange” to most) sounds pretty hard sometimes…
Even Musa (a.s.) asked Allaah for a helper when he had to step out with his belief into the cruel world where the rulers were named Pharoah. Hence Allaah aided him with Haroon (a.s.) – his brother.
As I walked on this path, I found support in the best of quality. My concerns for the quantity vanished automatically. Alhamdulillaah! When I started Qur’an, like I am about to do again with you all in shaa Allaah, I had my mother and my sister to share Qur’an with – stuffing them with all the stories and information I used to get.
During the course when I got married, Alhamdulillaah I found another prey to my discussions – my husband. Plus a big family of womenfolk (in my in-laws) to share and discuss Qur’an with. Eventually, I found the increase in quantity with the quality. May Allaah bless us all with such helpers. Aameen.
We all are gathered here to revise/study the Qur’an step by step – a big mob with the same goal. Walk on this beautiful path and feel the winds flowing in your direction. You are not alone. We all target Jannah – Jannat ul firdaus In shaa Allaah.
On this journey, I have with me people from my family (parents’ side and the in-laws’ side), my husband, and my kids.
Grab yours too! At least one person! If not formally, then in any way they want to join in with you and be your crutch. So that when you fall short, they also try to pick you up. In shaa Allaah it will be a ride worth spending time in.
4) Dua: The weapon of a believer.
Alhamdulillah for we are granted with free will and even more so that we are not left all alone on our “free will” as the will of Allaah is still the ultimate decision. So pray a lot to your Rabb and do loads of dua and dua and dua…
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “There is not a Muslim upon the earth who calls upon Allah with any supplication, except that Allah grants it to him, or he turns away from him the like of it in evil; as long as he does not supplicate for something sinful, or the severing of the ties of kinship.” So a man from the people said: “What if we should increase (in it)” He (ﷺ) said: “(With) Allah is more.” [Tirmidhi]
