LESSON #15:

Chapter 2: Verse 92-103

I personally love the above two verses. They are hauntingly beautiful. Once you get a hold of its meaning and explanation, they will grow on you…
Listen to the verses in Arabic again and again and see how it will leave you in awe of Allaah’s supreme knowledge of our actions and what we hide in our hearts. His wisdom is infinite and the more you think the more it captures your heart with love and submission.
Let’s think for a moment…

What if you’ll die after 5 minutes? The clock is ticking closer now… Read and ponder at every single question…

What’s on your mind? What came first? What worries are you engulfed in? What did you do all those years? Now it’s time to return to the One who created you.
What about Him? How many prayers have you prayed only to please Allaah alone, as if He is watching you? How many times did you hear hayya ala salah (come towards success) and got up responding to it? How many times did you perform ablution to shed your sins? How many fasts did you spend understanding Allah’s message instead of cooking all day with tummy-filling battles? How many nights did you find yourself making dua to Allah?

How much dead flesh did you feast upon without realisation amidst all that backbiting in the name of gossip? What about all those mustard seeds of arrogance planted in your heart? All the times when you held your tongue but your expressions were enough to speak for you? Things you mocked someone at and about? Jokes that were nothing but lies, spoken for fun or to entertain? Petty things you borrowed and never returned for they were insignificant for you? Promises that were never taken care of?
And what about the rights of your parents? Siblings? Spouse? Children? Relatives? Neighbours? The poor and the needy? And… and… you take your last breaths…. You’re out of time now… you were to act earlier than this… you missed your chance… and you know very clearly what you sent ahead… now is the time that you now reap what you sow.

End of this story and beginning of the next…

Do you want to die now?

So… in order to make that daar ul akhirah for yourself, you gotta wake up and work for it…

Exercise:

1. Repent as much as possible, thinking over every sin of yours that you can recall and know that Allah loves those who repent

“But whosoever repents after his crime and does righteous good deeds (by obeying Allaah), then verily, Allaah will pardon him (accept his repentance). Verily, Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
[Quran, 5:39]

“Say: O ‘Ibaadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allaah, verily, Allaah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful”
[Quran, 39:53]

2. Set a rule to make Astaghfaar your habit… Allah loves a consistent deed – be it small
