LESSON #22:

Chapter 2:  Verse  163-171

Even if I keep thinking and thinking, I never get to find an excuse for myself –  one that I can place infront of God to tell Him on the Day of Judgement as to why I forgot Him! why was i so lazy to study His deen and teach myself and others, the ahsan way of life. Why logging in to facebook, twitter and instagram was more important and frequently desired as compared to the book He sent to direct me better. Why is that the news took so much of my time amidst excuses of being aware while naba’il azeem (the biggest news) was not paid any heed. What made me follow the indecent stories of the dramas and forget the one Allah presented to us – ones that are true and refreshes the soul.

Would it be enough for the women to say that they cooked biryani thrice a week till they had no time for anything else? Would men be off the hook by saying that they had a hectic job which paid them well enough, so much so that they were left with no time for Allah?

Where is Allah in all of that?
We fed our greed, we fulfilled all our desires, and we drained ourselves in things that are important to us.
Where is Allah in our lives?
In our thoughts?
We hardly find Him in prayers even.
Would we recognise ourselves that day if this is who we are? Would we even like ourselves?

Allah has showered us with so many signs and we fail to see any of them. Just because we are too busy watching tv, reading novels, listening to music, updating status, cooking lavish foods, playing video games and what not…
When do we ponder really? We don’t have any time left…
The hands of clock doesn’t fit our hands. It doesn’t stop while we rummage through the pile of clothes. It doesn’t wait while we surf the internet. It doesn’t tie its hands while we serve everyone and everything but Allah.

Abu Dharr said, “I asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, what if a man loves a people but cannot join them?’ He replied, ‘Abu Dharr, you are with the one you love.’ I said, ‘I love Allah and His Messenger.’ He said, ‘Abu Dharr, you are with the one you love.'” [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad]

These set of verses  act like a criterion for all of us and it’s not hard to know what are we upto? In whose love are we severe in? whose footsteps are we following?
And to know that, we can easily distinguish if we use our intellect. And if we read through His words, every logic will fall into place and every sign will fit the puzzle.

We can put our google searches under check. How many are they about fashion, cricket, celebrities, dramas, movies, music etc.? and how many are they directed towards our love for Allah? Towards gaining more knowledge of His deen?

It was narrated that ‘Ubadah bin As-Samit said: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him, and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah, hates to meet him.'” [Nasai

  1. Subhanallah…

We need such reminders to help us make Allah (swt) our no 1 priority. Our love for Him must come first and never diminish in today’s fast paced world of smart technology and constant status updates.

  2. If I had to cook biryani thrice a week I would cry lol.

But on a serious note….great reminder masha’Allah. So easy to waste time and forget what is the most important.
